The brief
People thinking about a pottery class are often nervous beginners. The site had to feel warm, answer “what happens in a class?”, and make booking simple.
What we built
- A home page that explains the classes, how a session works and the studio itself
- A separate booking page: pick a class, a date and how many people, up to four
- A class list kept in one data file, so it can change without touching the pages
Decisions worth explaining
A look that suits the business
The chunky type and clay colours come from the craft itself, so the site feels nothing like a template.
Believable availability
Sessions are worked out from each class’s schedule, with made-up but stable spaces, so some dates show as full and the demo behaves like the real thing.
One file per section
Each part of the page is its own small component, which keeps later changes small and easy to find.
What it doesn’t do
The studio is fictional and no booking reaches anyone. There are no automated tests. A real version needs a small server and payments, plus tests around booking.
